There is an old castle in the centre of Frankfurt.  Actually, it’s a Baroque, 18th century Thurn-und-Taxis-Palais reconstruction, but that’s not what’s important here.

What’s important is the imposing hi tech building almost adjacent to it, forming a sort of odd couple nod to architecture from two very different eras, yet representing state of the art in both.

Unlike almost all luxury city centre hotels, The Jumeirah Frankfurt was a new build. Purpose built from the ground up to acknowledge and cater for Frankfurt’s big business population. Everything, from the remarkably spacious bedrooms to the glorious spa and restaurants has been a work of art.

It has a swagger about it, almost as if your reaction to what you discover inside is something completely expected. Take the rooms for example; floor to ceiling windows offering an extraordinary view of the city. Every landmark clear as day. The walnut, honey and nutmeg colours, the timber floors, silk carpets, and original Hartwig Ebersbach artwork combining as a hallmark of quality. The bathrooms with their tubs, stand-alone tropical showers and L’Occitane toiletries. And the room technology; body heat air conditioning, programmable lighting, 42 inch TV and joy of joys, free wi fi.Max One on One (c) Andy Mossack

The signature restaurant Max One on One is a skilful blend of Japanese clean line decor by designer Takashi  Sugimoto and the Austrian cuisine artistry of Head Chef Martin Steiner who manages to conjure up traditional Teutonic flavours in a contemporary way. There can be no doubting the provenance of the Schnitzel I sampled, or that matter the delicious homemade ice cream. Of course, the 40,000 honey bees living on the roof are kept busy providing a naturally sweet addition to the kitchen larder particularly at breakfast time!Frankfurt and Rhine 118
The Jumeirah Frankfurt lies within walking distance of the financial district obviously, but also most of Frankfurt’s attractions like the Goethestrasse, The Old Opera House, City Hall, the Museum of Modern Art and Goethe’s house.
If you are coming to Frankfurt to herald a tour of the Rhine-Main region and perhaps the Rhine in Flames festival, The Jumeirah will send you on your way fully pampered for sure.
