David Gerrie has been a journalist for 47 years. A firm believer in the adage “If you want to know a country, you have to eat its food and drink its wine,” he has travelled the globe in search of the perfect meal. Never knowingly a food snob, David’s favourite mealtime memories range from a Michelin three-star in Burgundy to a no-choice 10 euro lunch at a hole-in-the-wall in Rome. At home, he’s a slightly-better-than-competent cook, with the exception of his much discussed strawberry-garlic pavlova.
