Andy Mossack reviews the Eden Bleu Hotel at Eden Island Marina in Seychelles.

It’s not often I visit a Presidential Suite and find floor-to-ceiling bulletproof glass windows and reinforced doors, but such is the attention to detail here at Eden Bleu Hotel, it’s clear any visiting dignitary is going to feel very secure that’s for sure.

Sadly for me, the only protection detail I required was sufficient sun cream for  another Seychelles sunny day and the draw of immensely comfortable loungers around Eden Bleu’s infinity pool and Jacuzzi .

With the backdrop of Eden Island’s glistening marina and a cast of very sleek and expensive boats, the newly opened Eden Bleu Hotel enjoys a unique position as the Island’s only hotel. Despite this rather dominant position, you won’t find a sniff of any resting on laurels, in fact I found quite the opposite; outstanding service, excellent food and real air of organised efficiency which fits the bill perfectly for a property billed primarily as a “business hotel”. And I can see why, being just a few minutes’ drive from both Mahe airport and Mahe’s tiny capital, Victoria.

Eden Island itself is a little bit special. A man-made island retreat built entirely from 140 acres of reclaimed land joined to the Mahe mainland by a bridge, it is an exclusive enclave of luxury villas and apartments with an international marina at its beating heart. Around the waterways are lively cafes and restaurants many offering live entertainment and within the covered Eden Plaza, a parade of boutique shops to wander around if retail therapy is required.

Eden Bleu’s new build architecture is boutique, stylish, sleek and modern with a stunning lobby area of water features leading out to spaciously decadent bar lounge with the restaurant behind serving some really excellent local and international dishes as well as all day snacks. With the infinity pool area doubling as an outdoor eating space too, you won’t be short of opportunities to enjoy that year round Seychelles balmy climate.

Upstairs, the guestrooms are beautifully turned out and all offer magnificent views of the marina and Mahe’s tropical mountainous backdrop from a generous balcony seat. Inside, the soft pastel colours emanate cool chic, while the large beds and crisp linens provide a relaxing slumber.  There’s more good news as Eden Bleu’s luxury business hotel rating ensures a more than adequate supply of power outlets to fit all international types and super fast free internet too.

If you need a short luxury stopover with some nightlife and easy access to Victoria or the airport, then Eden Bleu Hotel will tick every box except the beach one. Sadly, Eden Island’s beaches are currently residents only, so the nearest beaches are a twenty-minute drive away. So for a longer stay pick one of Mahe’s many stunning beach resorts but for business or somewhere a stone’s throw from the port or airport you won’t find anything better.

I want to stay at Eden Bleu Hotel. How much is it?

An executive double room at Eden Bleu is from €300 per night.
