Up on the 17th floor rooftop of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Kevin is quick to point out some of the stand out items on the Capa Spanish Steakhouse menu as he seats me close to all the open plan kitchen action.

“I can just bring some recommendations for you” he offers, as I clearly look indecisive faced with a hefty menu from charcuterie and cheeses, to tapas and appetizers and wagyu entrees.

“Great idea Kevin”

“How about a wine flight pairing too?”

Never one to overlook an opportunity to taste good Spanish wines I’m all in.

Delicious devilled huevos with spicy ailioli ($5) and a classic toasted pan con tomate with manchego cheese are up first wrapped around a perfectly crisp and fruity Nisia Verdejo white wine.

Kevin is clearly off to a flier.

Next up are Medjool dates wrapped in bacon with almond, maple and tamarind ($10), a combination I find so perfectly matched I wanted more. Of course, the glass of 2014 Tempranillo that sat by its side made it all the more enjoyable.

Thoughts of any extra dates vanish as another dish materialises – Cerdo pork belly with pistachio and apple ($12)

Kevin pours a 2008 Pamploman red in anticipation of the main course, a 5 oz wagyu ($25 per ounce) with green and white asparagus and crunchy patatas bravas.

Needless to say this dish deserved top billing, matched really well by the full bodied red.

Kevin is back looking triumphant. “got room for dessert?”

“Not a chance”

“You cannot leave here without trying the olive oil cake.”

“how did you know I can’t resist olive oil”

This proves to be a piece of heaven on a plate; Arbequina olive oil cake with blackberries, yoghurt honey sorbet and a drizzle of lemon.($13). Too good to miss.

My Capa experience  was an excellent example of classic quality Spanish fare presented with the love and passion this style of food deserves.
