The building of the 24th Ice Hotel Lapland will begin in November. The 20 winning artists have already been announced including a Brit, Marcus Dillistone, whose design celebrating the London Tube’s 150th anniversary is of a London underground platform complete with snow ‘tube’.
Other designs this year include a Frankenstein-esque science lab, pole dancing Polar Bears and a Montmartre-inspired roof top setting – all made of ice and snow. An Art Suite upgrade costs from £82 per person, per night.
This year’s hotel will have approximately 65 rooms ranging over five categories, including last year’s successful introduction of the Northern Light suites, themed to capture the magic of the aurora borealis. Upgrade to a Northern Lights suite from £65 per person, per night.
ICEHOTEL, Lapland is located in the picturesque village of Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland, forms an exclusive ice art exhibition each year where artists use only frozen water from the Torne River to create this unique ‘pop up’ hotel which opens each December. ICE HOTEL is left to melt back into the river each April and no two designs are ever the same.
