The new Heathrow airport terminal 2 preview took place last week amid much excitement. it was an opportunity for many of the retailers and outlets to meet with the press and unveil their plans for the new Queens’ Terminal which opens on the 4th June 2014.
The new terminal will be houses under an undulating steel roof designed by Spanish architect Luis Vidal will feature 67 outlets and a multi lingual concierge team who between them can speak 38 different languages. There will be a number of firsts in the new terminal 2; a personal shopper service and lounge, some unique premium restaurants, beauty treatments and an online boutique service.
Heston Blumenthal fuels The Perfectionists’ Cafe which will offer traditional British dishes and an array of eccentric ones including liquid nitrogen ice cream. The Gorgeous Kitchen is a collaboration of four talented and award winning female chefs, Gee Charman, Sophie Michell, Jo Pratt and Caroline Mi Li Artiss who between them will provide global cuisine made from British grown produce within 15 minutes of ordering.. London brewery Fuller’s just 8 miles from Heathrow has crafted a unique Terminal 2 lager which will be on sale in the 5,000 square foot Gastro Pub outlet whilst Wondertree from Giraffe will offer a cafe, full service restaurant and takeaway options.
There will be 23 retailers on show including the very first John Lewis airport shop, Michael Kors, Paul Smith, Thomas Pink, Harrods (including for the first time a recreation of its fabled Watch Room) Cath Kidston, BVlgari, Hugo Boss and Kurt Geiger.
There will also be a completely independent passenger lounge offering premium services to all classes of passengers. The brainchild of Malaysian businessman Song Hoi-see, Plaza Premium Lounge will have 8 sleeping and showering suites, business centre facilities, complimentary food and drinks, free wifi and a range of therapies from organic wellness spa brand ILA for an entry fee of £38 per person.
