Britain’s leading low cost carrier has upgraded its mobile app to provide passengers with a quicker route through airport security. From today easyJet’s app now has a passport scanning option. easyJet’s app, which has been downloaded over 10 million times so far, enables customers using an iOS or Android device to scan their passport details using their mobile phone camera making it quicker and easier to check in.
James Millett, easyJet’s Head of Digital, said:
“Our new mobile passport scanning function will save time for the millions of customers who use the app to input their travel documentation details. It’s another example of innovating to make travel as easy as it is affordable with easyJet.”
“We’ve developed the new function in partnership with credentials management service Jumio to ensure details can be scanned in easily, safely and securely. Combined with our mobile boarding passes customers can now check in on their mobiles up to 2 hours before flights in 110 of the airports easyJet fly to across Europe.“
easyJet’s mobile app is now available to download and was recently awarded ‘Best Mobile Booking Solution’ at the Mobile Travel and Tourism Awards 2014, and ‘Best B2C App’ at the Marketing on Mobile Awards last year. easyJet is committed to innovating to make travel easier and this year alone launched a partnership with flightradar24 to track flights on the move, introduced a live update system to connect with travellers and was the first European airline to trial iBeacons.
