Hotel Le Saint James. Bordeaux

The view of The Garonne river from my bedroom window is spectacular, no question. Particularly as it is framed by the vines in the foreground from Hotel Le Saint James own vineyard. But in all fairness, even that charming montage is surpassed by the sight of the full size Harley-Davidson standing like a silent sentinel next to my bed.

Tate channel on BA flights

Intimate portraits of the world’s leading artists will now be available to BA passengers from May 1 as the Tate and British Airways launch Tate channel on BA flights showcasing the best of the modern art world on hundreds of flights this summer. Passengers will be able to follow Grayson Perry, Ed Ruscha and Ai Wei Wei around their studios as they reveal the secrets of their creative processes, take a peek behind-the-scenes at the making of Yayoi Kusama’s polka dot installation for Tate Modern and hear Damien Hirst talk about his previous award-winning exhibitions.

Caledonian Sleeper. Glasgow to London.

It’s all change for the Caledonian Sleeper that connects London Euston overnight with five Scottish termini:  Edinburgh, Glasgow for the lowland sleeper and Fort William, Aberdeen, Inverness for the Highland sleeper.

It may not have the rep of Hvar or Brac, but Korcula is set to be the next hot island in Croatia.   It already has a Relais & Chateaux hotel, excellent restaurants, decent sandy beaches and something extra few islands offer – exquisite architecture and the rich culture of layers of ancient civilisations.

Z Hotel Glasgow

Z Hotel Glasgow is ideally placed for exploring Glasgow city centre, next to George Square, 200 yards from Queen’s station but in spite of being perfectly central and in our case a Friday night, we had the quietest night sleep.
