Park City. Utah’s luxury mountain hideaway

There was a point, I’m pretty sure it was 23 seconds into my 47 second journey down the Park City Utah Olympic Park four man bob sled run, when I had second thoughts. We were hurtling round turn five and the g-forces kicked in making my shoulders feel they were supporting the entire western hemisphere. Of course by the time my second thoughts were processed, turn ten had had come and gone and it was all over, leaving me desperately wanting to do it all again.

Stein Eriksen Lodge. Deer Valley

It seems I was in fine company with Stein Eriksen, Norway’s legendary Olympic gold medal champion. Not only was I staying at the aptly named and suitably luxurious Stein Eriksen Lodge, but the man himself was still hands on as the grand fromage of Deer Valley’s skiing operation.

High West Distillery and Saloon

David Perkins has a lot to answer for as far as I am concerned. Describing his vision of building a whiskey distillery to a self confessed whiskey addict must surely be against some law or other. Nevertheless, after bullying me to taste some of his own whiskey creations at the High West Distillery and Saloon in downtown Park City Utah, this former biochemist turned restaurateur has achieved something quite remarkable; he can actually give Scotland a run for its money.
