Alain Simard is something of a legend in Montreal. After all, anyone who can bully the government into putting on free outdoor festivals must be a little bit special.  But sitting next to me nursing a hangover and sipping a cup of take away soup, he seemed very unlegendary like.

Marie was gazing at me intently. She had been for a few minutes now and her rock steady stare was more than a little disconcerting I can tell you. I’d like to say she was hopelessly intoxicated by my rugged good looks and international reputation, sadly though, it was a result of my feeble attempts at following her directions for rolling paper thin pasta.

Petit may mean small, and if we are being honest here, it is a boutique hotel. It’s just that my room was actually very big. Maybe the hotel should be renamed Le Petit Hotel Avec Grand Chambre?
